EmberClear Takes on CCS Challenge in Pennsylvania

On 8 December 2010, US-based coal project developer EmberClear announced permitting approval from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection for its planned 270 MW Good Spring integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) project in Schuykill County, Pennsylvania (PA), US. The Good Spring project is proposing to use gasification technology developed by China's Thermal Power Research Institute (TPRI) that will be demonstrated at the 250 MW GreenGen IGCC carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project under construction in Tianjin, China, due for completion in 2011. Key trends include the following:
