Europe Solar PV Ownership Analysis: YE 2011

July 10, 2012

Key trends in this Data Insight include:

  • Owners of the 50 GW of PV systems installed in Europe at year-end 2011 range from private households to large utilities.
  • The 30 largest PV portfolios combined total 3.6 GW, or 7% of Europe's installed PV capacity. Financial players have advanced through acquisitions to capture 59% of that capacity.
  • Six European utilities have built up PV portfolios larger than 20 MW in size. Rapid CAPEX reductions have spurred initial interest among other utilities to invest in PV.
