Maersk Enters Choppy US Offshore Industry

November 18, 2011

On 7 October 2011, Maersk Line, Limited (Maersk) and Apex Offshore Wind (Apex) announced a partnership to support the development, financing, and construction of offshore wind projects in North America. Through the partnership, Maersk aims to provide offshore wind logistics and solutions in the US, and to provide vessel assets for Apex or other offshore wind project developers. Key trends in this On Point include:

  • Maersk stakes out early presence in US offshore wind.
  • Streamlined federal offshore wind permitting process helps attract new entrants.
  • US offshore industry focuses on the longer term as first-generation projects flounder.
