Senior Analyst, US Wind Power Industry

IHS EER's wind energy practice is well established and is growing rapidly. To meet the strategy and information needs of our growing client base we are looking for an experienced, driven professional to join our successful, entrepreneurial team.

Responsibilities:

As Senior Analyst, you will play a major role in IHS EER's wind energy advisory practice with responsibility for research and analysis of market and competitive activity in the US wind power industry. In addition, you will be responsible for establishing, maintaining and enhancing relationships with advisory clients, including executives in manufacturers, utilities, IPPs, wind project developers, financial and technology companies. You will be expected to:

  • Work with project team to deliver steady level of output, including memos, spreadsheets, and analytical presentations
  • Initiate, write and produce regular executive briefings, PowerPoint presentations and occasional white papers
  • Leading in-depth market studies
  • Demonstrate to clients and team members your knowledge and expertise in the analysis of wind energy, wind turbine technology, and overall electricity markets.
  • Develop and maintain a strong level of understanding of the regulatory, technology and competitive landscape of the wind turbine industry and its supply chain.
  • Interact with clients on a continuous basis to provide market direction, competitive analysis, and strategy support.
  • Support Sales and Marketing with client and prospect meetings.
  • Maintain industry profile through speaking opportunities and other participation in industry forums.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated track record of at least five years experience in an analytical role in the energy industry, with 3-5 years experience specifically in the US wind power industry.

The position requires solid analytical and quantitative skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and experience with telephone and internet-based research. As part of the global wind energy advisory group, the senior analyst must be able to work in a team environment, and to lead or contribute to collaborative projects.

An MBA or equivalent Masters degree is required. Proficiency required in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Multi-lingual capabilities a plus.

Senior Analyst, Global Wind Turbine Markets

In addition, you will be responsible for establishing, maintaining and enhancing relationships with advisory clients, including executives in manufacturers, utilities, IPPs, wind project developers, financial and technology companies. You will be expected to:

  • Ensure steady level of output of advisory stream deliverables including written deliverables, forecasting models, and one-on-one Q&A
  • Initiate, write and produce regular executive briefings, powerpoint presentations and occasional white papers
  • Contributing and eventually leading in-depth market studies
  • Demonstrate to clients and team members your knowledge and expertise in the analysis of wind energy, wind turbine technology, and overall electricity markets.
  • Develop and maintain a strong level of understanding of the regulatory, technology and competitive landscape of the wind turbine industry and its supply chain.
  • Interact with clients on a continuous basis to provide market research, competitive analysis, and strategy support.

Research Director, North America Wind Energy Practice

Responsibilities:

As Research Director, you will direct IHS EER's wind energy advisory practice, which provides a syndicated stream of research deliverables to a broad range of clients in the energy industry, including utilities, manufacturers, wind project developers, and financial institutions. You will be responsible for managing a small team of analysts covering the North American wind power industry, and for meeting corporate objectives for all group output. You will direct new initiatives in research direction and client service. You will have full responsibility for managing relationships with advisory clients in collaboration with sales account managers. You will be expected to:

  • Ensure steady level of output of advisory stream deliverables including written deliverables, forecasting models, and one-on-one Q&A
  • Initiate, edit and write regular executive briefings, powerpoint presentations and occasional white papers
  • Direct and manage completion of in-depth market studies
  • Demonstrate to clients and team members your knowledge and expertise in the analysis of wind energy, wind turbine technology, and overall electricity markets.
  • Direct team members to develop a strong level of understanding of the regulatory, technology and competitive landscape of the wind turbine industry and its supply chain.
  • Manage group's client interaction responsibilities and innovate methodologies to improve efficiencies without sacrificing client satisfaction.
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing to develop new clients and prospects, and to maximize client satisfaction.
  • Maintain industry profile through speaking opportunities and other participation in industry forums.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated track record of at least ten years experience in an analytical role in the energy industry, with 3-5 years experience specifically in the wind power industry or supply chain.

The position requires demonstrated management experience, solid analytical and quantitative skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and experience directing telephone and internet-based research. The research director is expected to manage on a collaborative basis, and to support and communicate corporate objectives across advisory staff.

An MBA or equivalent Masters degree is required. Proficiency required in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Multi-lingual capabilities a plus.
