Comparative Costs of Energy in Europe 2007

Wind power in Europe is emerging as a competitive generation option to be considered alongside more conventional fossil fired energy technologies according to EER's recent analysis. While the cost of wind power has risen slightly in recent years, due to short term supply shortages, the comparative cost of new-build conventional generation has been impacted by a greater degree by high fuel costs, high commodity prices, and environmental regulation.
EER's analysis on the comparative costs of energy, conducted on a Euro/MWh basis, is based on estimates of the cost of building a new conventional generation facility versus a new wind power plant in Continental Europe.
