Vattenfall Wakes Up to Wind Power
Vattenfall, Scandinavia’s sleeping wind giant, is waking up. With the recent purchase of a 48 turbine offshore project in Sweden, the firm has announced renewed efforts to build a wind portfolio. Vattenfall has the grid assets to dominate Baltic Sea offshore, and the balance sheet to be a major player in Northern Europe. The firm will have to act quickly with project and developer acquisitions to evolve into a wind player while competition intensifies, unless it can land a major deal with another Nordic player.
