E.ON Builds Portfolio with Swedish Acquisition
With an improving Swedish regulatory environment, Nordic players are positioning for major offshore growth. On the back of Vattenfall’s purchase of a 96 MW project, E.ON subsidiary Sydkraft has agreed to acquire offshore wind developer Airicole, a move that will deliver at least 60 MW by 2007 with over 1,000 MW in the pipeline. Airicole provides offshore wind experience and first mover advantage in Sweden, both of which E.ON expects to leverage in Germany.
